Hi again!  I just got my hands on a turbo from a newer Cummins. The Chrysler part number is 5017787AE .  Supposedly, it fits 00-02 trucks.  My question is, Will this help my 89 Cummins?  Will it even work?  I can have an adapter made at a machine shop I know for free, if the flange & bolt pattern are different.  Or, should I just forget it?  Thanks in advance!

I went from a 92 Cummins that towed great to a 2001 that couldn't tow it's own weight around.
I was told it was because of the difference in the turbo outlet design between the years.
The early ones are good for top end power...ie: towing on the highway but lack a bit at bottom end ( so what ) ,
and the newer ones have more bottom end power, but don't make as much top end where I need it, ie: towing on the highway.
This seems to me, to be when plug in programmer sales took off.
