This has become a more mainstream modification. Likely if you haven't done it, you have considered it.
With that said, I would like to get everybody who has done a SWAP to chime in. Just post a simple link of your build up. 4BT/6BT/ISB it doesn't matter. If it has a cummins engine in it now, (that was not original) I'd like to see a link. Yes, this does exclude factory trucks. This does not exclude "brand x" though. If you have/had a gm/ford/toyota/boat/tractor or anything else, the info may still be of use.
I don't want this thread to develop into a Q&A session, compliments, or even have a lot of sidebar convo, just trying to tie all of the swap links in one place.
We can discuss specifics separately.

you need to add another option to your poll:working on swap now lol
I allow the poster to make their own decision whether that counts as "I am waiting for sufficient funds/time" or "Been there done that"
For example, if you are working on pulling the [original] engine out...you are likely still in the wishing stage "waiting for time/money stage" . On the other hand, if you are already stabbing the cummins down in, I consider you atleast somewhat knowledgeable, [you have already experienced some of the difficulties] therefore "been there done that".
Do you have a thread started for the recipient vehicle? Swap doesn't have to be finished already, I see nothing wrong with on-going swaps as well.
Then again, I'd also like to see jungle, mad max, aspoonhour, drew, trooperthorn, mopar tim, bendiesel, cummins trailduster, rob904x4, vanilla gorilla, and a lot of the other guys in various stages of setting the engine or completed.

I'd like for people who want to do a swap to be able to go to this page as a directory, selecting different build up links, and walk away feeling like they know how to do this swap.

Joe,
I have a 4bt and 46rh sitting in my garage along with a host of other minor componants. But, I have not actually started the conversion. I won't be tearing into it until at least March.

Ummm...No Joe, that doesn't quite work for those of us that are in the middle of the conversion or those that, like myself, are ready to start the conversion.
After the money and time I have spent to get the CTD and other components, I would like to think that I am past the wishing (Dreamer) stage.
While this could be a most excellent resource for those of us that are considering or in the middle of a CTD conversion, let's not dampen other's CTD conversion spirits by relegating them to wishing status.

Ya Joe,
There is middle ground. I have already spent the sufficient funds and have the items in my garage waiting for installation.
I suppose I need more time. That's only because it's Winter. I'm older and I really do not want to lay on cold concrete anymore.
But, you can bet your ass I'll finish the conversion before the coming Summer.
i see what hes sayin. if you have the engine and are dedicated to putting it in you might as well slect done cause this is a long term pole and odds are eventually you will finish or sell it lol
Joe,
As you know the donor truck was totally dissembled & now I'm in the process of getting everything ready (repaired & modified) while it is apart & accessible with out climbing under the truck. I would like to see in the poll " In process ".
Here's the link to the correct page & It starts about post #74.;
I've done a Diesel Swap, but my truck is a Brand X Mitsu-Dodgie So it doesn't apply
However i can provide some insight since the basics still remain somewhat the same regardless of who built the Diesel Engine (Mitsuitchy in this case). It runs a VE series IP like the earlier Cummins Engines, so the pump is vastly similiar (and very easy to overhaul, don't let it scare you)
Manual "Cold Start" stuff : Glow Plugs & Grid Heaters would be wired up the same even though they're very different creatures, infact i have crude (very crude MS-Paint) Wiring Diagrams i drew up while assembling the custom wiring harness.
Manual "Fast Idle" can be implimented on Cummins Trucks with the VE Pump very easily (i can provide pictures of the Factory Manual Fast Idle from my 2.5L with a VE pump)
I can provide Hydroboost Conversion information, since i've done the Hydroboost Conversion on my mitsuitchy. Most of the information will still apply to the D/W series trucks, aside from the few modifications i had to do to connect to the original Brake Pedal.
well i did a 2nd gen cummins into a ramcharger, with the drive train out of a 5 speed 1993 w350.
next on the block should be a 77 crew cab, it might be going 24v with mechanical injection. . . should be fun, ill start a thread on here and cummins forum on that one. there is one on here with the ramcharger
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
