« on: April 21, 2009, 06:21:16 AM »
i drew this up and wrote the article for a diesel website......this pertains to the Bosch VE pump.......

THE INTERNALS OF YOUR AFC......

YOUR AFC AT WORK......

NOW, HOW TO TURN UP YOUR VE PUMP......
MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOUR DOING ANY KIND OF TWEAKING ON THE PUMP YOU GOT A FRIEND AROUND WITH A PIECE OF 2X6 WOOD ABOUT 18 INCHES LONG THAT YOU CAN PUT IN FRONT OF THE TURBO TO KILL THE ENGINE IN CASE OF RUN-A-AWAY, RUN AWAY IS CAUSED BY THE ENGINE GETTING TOO MUCH FUEL AND IT JUST KEEPS FUELING AND SPINNING HARDER, AND FUELING MORE AND SPINNING HARDER TIL IT BLOWS, THE BEST WAY TO KEEP FROM GETTING IT, IS EVERY TIME YOU TURN THE FUEL SCREW IN SOME YOU GOT TO SNAP THE THROTTLE, IF THE THROTTLE RETURNS NORMALLY YOUR DOING FINE, IF IT HANGS FOR A SECOND THEN COMES DOWN YOUR ON THE VERGE OF DISASTER, BACK IT DOWN SOME......

On a slightly separate topic, care to explain the "ol' smokey power pin"? Don't have a rotary truck, but just wondering about that mod?
Avoid replacing any part that you have not proven to be faulty through extensive testing.

ive got 2 VE trucks and a p-pump truck......

you see the fuel pin in my first diagram at rest with no boost at idle or just off idle, well as that pin is pushed down by boost in the second diagram the fuel rack pin rides on the ramp and as the pin goes deeper into the groove it supplies the truck with more fuel, well the Ol' Smokey Power Pin, DennyT Stage II, Bully Dog Power Pin, PDR Power Pin, all have a deeper groove in them allowing the rack pin to travel further and supply the truck with more fuel.........you can also rotate your factory pin around so the deep part of the groove faces forward and that will help some, or take a die grinder and cut a deeper ramp in the factory pin.......im currently working on my own version of the Power Pin to sell........i should have it ready for sale after i do some testing......

here is a picture of the stock pin next to a DennyT Stage II, i just ordered the DennyT pin for my drag truck..........
