so im pulling an empty 25'(on the floor)g.neck stock trailer from AZ to WY...in Denver my eng light comes on and the truck intermittenly "jerks" and blows grayish smoke. I originally thought the GB trans was acting up because the solenoid ?? is bad(hunts 1-2 gear) I pulled into Dodge in Ft Collins and he Dan (thanks for hooking me up) read and erased these codes.P2149 bank2, p2146 bank1..bank 1 circuit high or low. Unfortunately, what he wrote down got wet so I may be a little off because of smearing..but it made sense as I belive these are injector codes which explain the stumble and smoke. The truck has shown eng. light before i the middle of a long tow and, as in this case, goes away after a day or so and runs fine. Heres the wierd part..my EDGE froze up..wouldnt read anything as I was driving..then cleared itself after ign. off/on t refuel. Is my box bad..could this cause the injector fault? Oh and there's more read next post

Vehicle Application: 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 TRX4 5.9L, DIESEL, Vin C, Turbo, Eng Cfg L6

Customer Concern: Code P2149, bank 2 cylinders 4, 5 and 6 shorted high or low and P0204 injection control circuit #4, P0205 injection control circuit #5, P0206 injection control circuit #6.
Tests/Procedures: 1. Unplug the connectors at the head and check the resistance of each injector. The resistance should be more than 0 and less than 1 ohm. At this low resistance, make sure to account for the resistance of the test leads. Some may be 0.2 ohms or more. If the circuits can not be traced accurately, remove the valve cover to check right at the injector after removing the wires from the injector.
Potential Causes: Injectors
Wiring Harness

Tech Tips: The wiring harness on this vehicle had very brittle insulation.
Diagnostic Codes: P0204, P0205, P0206, P2149

Average Reported Mileage: 69397

Confirmed Fix Summary

Confirmed Fix 1 -  Aftermarket Performance Chip

Vehicle Application: 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup 5.9L, DIESEL, Vin C, Turbo, Eng Cfg L6, USA/Canada

Customer Concern: Lack of power and code P2146. The injectors and wiring seem to test normally.
Tests/Procedures: 1. Remove the two wires from each one of the affected cylinders injectors. In this case cylinders 1, 2, 3. Do this one at a time. Isolate the wires so they do not ground out. Clear the code with the scan tool and start the engine back up. If the code resets, install the wires and take off the next two wires for the next cylinder. If the code does not return with one of the injectors disconnected, that injector is failing under load. Replace it.

2. If the code continues to reset after all injectors are isolated, replace the Electronic Control Module (ECM). Be aware that the ECM comes blank and will need to be programmed after replacement. The vehicle will not start without programming.
Potential Causes: ECM
Injector

Diagnostic Codes: P2146

Average Reported Mileage: 54000

Confirmed Fix Summary

 Confirmed Fix 1 -  Fuel Injector(s)
1 -  Power Chip
